Organizing & Facilitating Effective Meetings with Professionals & Families
RMTC-D/HH interviews Michelle Henry, Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Coordinator in Hillsborough County, on tools they use within their district to conduct effective meetings. The theme around this interview is based on the second practice from the Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability and Reform (CEEDAR) Center and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)’s publication High-Leverage Practices in Special Education, "Organize and facilitate effective meetings with professionals and families." Michelle also shares about the family events that Hillsborough County coordinates and how other districts can incorporate similar events.
Michelle Henry has been working in Hillsborough County's DHH program since graduating from Texas Christian University in 2002. Her teaching experience ranges from Pre/K, parent infant, to high school and homebound. In 2015, she became the coordinator for the D/HH program, which currently serves over 650 D/HH students. Michelle received her Masters degree from the University of Arizona and is an adjunct ASL professor at the University of Tampa.
