Resource Materials and Technology Center for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing

Taming Your IEP Dragon

This workshop will discuss the importance of the IEP to families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing. The video will explain the five areas parents need to understand to make them effective members of their child's IEP team. The five areas of understanding that are discussed in this workshop are Education, Preparation, Attitude, Collaboration, and Involvement. Understanding how these five areas of understanding interact will help parents of children who are deaf or hard of hearing to better understand the dynamics of how the IEP team and IEP process work. Such understanding will help parents to successfully navigate and influence the IEP process to ensure that their children are receiving a free, appropriate, public, education.
